HP meets LOTR.

I started thinking about HP characters and what they'd correspond to in Lord of the Rings. This is because I am a procrastinator most foul. So far, I have figured out the following. Of course, because I am procrastinating, I am also really reaching for some of these. Like, r-e-a-l-l-y.

Harry - Frodo
Hermione - Merry
Ron - Samwise
Neville - Pippin
Dumbledore - Gandalf
Snape - Saruman

Voldemort - Sauron
Lupin - Aragon
Sirius - Boromir
Legolas - McGonagall
Gimli - Slughorn

Course then I thought about the baddies a bit. Who would make up the Ringwraiths? Some of them were easy.

Barty Crouch Jr. - Witchking of Angmar
Lucius - Ringwraith 1
Bellatrix - Ringwraith 2
Karkarof - Wormtongue

But what about the Rohirrim I hear you ask? Well, a fine question indeed.

Tom Riddle - Eowyn (Yes, I have a reason for this, see Men of Gondor.)
Moody - Theoden
Which then made me wonder about Eomer and that took me to skeery places, so I stopped thinking about the Rohirrim right away, yes indeedy.

And Men of Gondor:
Blaise - Faramir. (Of course, this is edited in after the fact when I gave it a bit more thought, after me saying this to penemuel: Tom would be all wounded and 'ow I stabbed the Witchking of Angmar in the head with my sword and it really bloody hurt *pout*' and Blaise could be 'you are so cool, I love you, let me protect you forever.' See? Cute!)
Penny - Beregond. (prompted by urbandruid)

I suppose that Galadriel and Celeborn would be red haired elves, Mrs and Mr. Weasley respectively, which I suppose means that the Elves of Lorien would be the Weasley family. I guess that Ginny could maybe be Haldir. I dunno.

Grindelwald would definitely be Maeglor or whatever the hell the dark demon evil dude that preempted Sauron's name was. Maeglor? I can't remember. Anyway. Him.

And I should stop this right now before I start pulling out all my Tolkien and dissecting every teensy weensy character.

Oh, Tom Bombadill is Hagrid.

And this is relevant, because it is the basis for one of my au challenge fics:
Star: I should be writing this rim fic, instead I'm doing HP as LOTR....Tom - Eowyn, Blaise - Faramir, the Houses of Healing. I can totally see it! Tom would be leaning against manly!B who would not take advantage of the poor wounded lamb
Penemuel: are you going to have Tom be the son who disguised himself as a daughter?
Star: I think so yes

Star: otherwise it would be a past life with girl!Tom in the middle ages stabbing a nasty evil dude
